Basel: Construction approval for the Werkarena
Steiner AG has received the building permit for the Werkarena Basel. This means that the business park in the north of the city can now be realised.
According to Stefan Gabriel, team leader for real estate development at Steiner, construction work on the building complex is set to begin in a few days. The first move-ins are planned from autumn 2021. The Werkarena will comprise 20,000 sqm of warehouse, office and production space; the target group is young entrepreneurs and SMEs.
The development is being built in the north of Basel with a direct border location. The Werkarena is easily accessible both from the city centre of Basel and from the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, and the site is directly connected to the A3 motorway. The project is an initiative of the Basel-Stadt trade association, Immobilien Basel-Stadt, Businessparc Reinach, Steiner, Smeyers and Picard Angst, as well as other major companies.
Small vans can access the two lower commercial floors with a ramp system. The upper four floors of the Werkarena house offices and meeting rooms. Companies can either rent space or acquire condominium ownership.
Part of the project is also a trade and business park operated by the Basel-Stadt Trade Association and Businessparc Reinach, offering fully equipped workplaces for temporary use. Seminar and conference rooms are also available for events. (ah)
