Based on a design by the well-known architect Santiago Calatrava, a building with public-oriented uses and service areas is to be built. On behalf of the City of Zurich, Axa will build an underground bicycle station in the basement with direct access to the platforms - there will be space for 850 bicycles.

Calatrava has already designed the Stadelhofen station and the new building, which will also provide better access to the tracks, could create a link to it, writes the Axa Investment Foundation in a press release.

The design plan was approved back in June 2017, Axa has now submitted the planning application for the Haus zum Falken. Construction is expected to take around two and a half years. If construction begins in the second quarter of 2020, the building would be completed by the end of 2022, Axa added. (ah)
