Implenia wins major contract in Quartier de l'Étang
Implenia has been awarded a contract worth CHF 270 million. The company is realizing five new buildings in the Quartier de l'Étang in Vernier.
The developer PG Promotors, represented by Urban Project, has commissioned Implenia with the realization of another part of the Quartier de l'Étang in Vernier near Geneva.
After construction site E, where Implenia as general contractor has been realizing around 270 rental apartments since September 2018, five additional buildings with commercial use will now follow on construction site A. The multifunctional buildings form an architectural unit and are intended to become the landmark of the new quarter.
The five buildings will comprise 670 hotel rooms and apartments, 230 student apartments, 90 apartments with integrated services and office space of around 15,000 sqm. Construction work is scheduled to start in November.
The Quartier de l'Étang is currently being built on a former industrial site covering a good eleven hectares in the municipality of Vernier near Geneva Airport. In total, the project comprises six construction sites. Over 1,000 residential units will be built, which should help alleviate the housing shortage in the canton of Geneva. In addition, the neighborhood will include a school, a crèche and communal sports facilities. (ah)
