Bern: Laying of the foundation stone for the Huebergass development
In Bern, the foundation stone was laid for a development with 103 cooperative apartments.
The Huebergass project consists of five four-story structures positioned to form an alley as the heart of the new settlement - the "Huebergass". Construction is based on a design by GWJ Architektur from Berne, and the general contractor is Halter AG. Parallel to the project, the city of Bern is creating a park with a water and play landscape.
Family apartments with 4.5 and 5.5 rooms, residential studios and 1.5-, 2.5- and 3.5-room apartments are planned. So-called cluster apartments on the first floor with six to eight rooms, a communal kitchen and a spacious living room are intended to provide space for new forms of living, such as large and retirement communities. According to the Huebergass building cooperative, all the apartments had already been rented before construction began. The apartments should be ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2021.
A special feature of the development is a comprehensive mobility concept: Only one parking space is planned for every four apartments in order to promote "restrained individual traffic," according to the statement. The development is located right next to the Schlossmatte streetcar stop and will have a Mobility station as well as other mobility solutions with an electric charging station. In addition, the tenants' cooperative will pay each resident a share of the Libero subscription. These services will be financed by a tenant franc.
The Huebergass housing cooperative is a reference project of the WBG Wir sind Stadtgarten. In 2017, the WBG won the investor and project competition for the Bern residential development on Mutachstrasse with the Huebergass project. After completion of the project development and before the start of construction, the housing cooperative was transformed into the independent tenant cooperative Huebergass. (ah)
