Emmen: Steiner develops residential and commercial complex
On behalf of the Steiner Investment Foundation, Steiner is planning a new housing development on the Sonne site in the Emmenbrücke district. The outline project for the site development has now been presented.

The Sonne project is being built in Emmen on the site between Gerliswilstrasse and Gersagstrasse, in the immediate vicinity of Sonnenplatz and the Emmenbrücke Gersag S-Bahn station. The development will consist of four polygonal buildings and around 180 apartments. Along Gersagstrasse, up to seven-storey buildings are planned, with public-oriented ground floor and commercial uses. Steiner is convinced that this - in combination with a tree-lined sidewalk area - will enhance and revitalize the center of Emmen. The settlement will be connected to public transport with the planned expansion of the S-Bahn station and the new bus hub.
The indicative project for the site development is based on a project study by the team Steib Gmür Geschwentner Kyburz Partner and koepflipartner Landscape Architects BSLA, which won the study contract. The project convinced the jury of experts in particular with the qualities of the exterior space, the good visual connections within the quarter and the careful integration of the existing buildings on Gerliswilstrasse with the historic Adler inn, writes Steiner in the press release.
A development plan is currently being drawn up; construction work is scheduled to begin in mid-2020. Steiner expects the overall project to be completed in 2024. (ah)
