Aarau: Stadium project clears important hurdle
The Federal Supreme Court has dismissed appeals against the revision of Aarau's building and land use regulations (BNO). The partial change of use planning for the Torfeld Süd stadium project is also based on the BNO.

The Government Council declared the Building and Use Ordinance (BNO) ready for approval as early as July of this year, but delayed approval until the Federal Supreme Court had ruled on the
BNO related voting rights appeals suspended. After the Federal Court rejected these appeals, there is now nothing to prevent the approval, the city of Aarau informs.
The partial amendment of the Torfeld Süd land use planning is also based on the revision of the BNO. The Aarau electorate approved this on November 24 with 60% votes in favor. It can now also be submitted to the government council for approval. The land use planning allows the following to be built on Torfeld Süd a football stadium and four high-rise buildings with residential and commercial use can be created. Construction work on the project, a project by HRS Real Estate, was originally scheduled to start in May 2018. (ah)
