Thun: Replacement buildings planned for Jägerweg housing estate
The Jägerweg-Schützenweg housing estate in Thun will be demolished from March 2020. It is to be replaced by a new development.
According to the city of Thun, the five apartment blocks of the Jägerweg-Schützenweg community housing estate built in 1943 are in very poor condition; some of the apartments are no longer habitable. The houses are therefore to be gradually demolished.
The first apartment block at Schützenweg 25 is expected to be demolished in March 2020, according to the statement. The remaining four buildings will also be gradually demolished by 2024 at the latest.
The perimeter is part of the Freistatt area, where a new settlement development is planned. The corresponding zoning plan amendment was approved in summer 2019. An architectural competition for the new development is to be held in 2021. Construction of the first stage can start in 2023 at the earliest. (ah)
