Basel: Rex cinema closes
According to local media reports, Kitag is closing the Rex cinema in Basel's Steinenvorstadt district.
How, among other things, the Basel newspaper reported, is closing the Rex cinema at Steinenvorstadt 29 - one of the last large cinemas in the city center - on Jan. 5. What will happen to the location is still unclear.
The Rex has two auditoriums with 340 and 280 seats and is operated by Kitag AG from Zurich. The Capitol at Steinenvorstadt 36 also belongs to Kitag. Like Telebasel reported in the summer of 2019, Kitag intends to withdraw from the Basel city center.
However, the company has not confirmed this. In the Basel region, however, Kitag will operate a new multiplex cinema in Überbauung Hagnau in Muttenz. (ah)
