Plans for centre development in Gümligen are available
HRS Real Estate and the municipality of Muri bei Bern are planning a high-rise building and a residential quarter in Gümligen. Now there are concrete ideas about what the buildings could look like.
HRS Real Estate and the municipality of Muri bei Bern have held a project competition and a study commission procedure for two building sites in the Lischenmoos development area west of Gümligen station. The results are now available, according to a joint statement by HRS and the municipality.
On site A1, directly next to the Moosstrasse traffic circle and south of the train station, a high-rise building is to be erected as a prominent landmark marking the start of Gümligen's center development. The project competition was won by "Triangolo", a team led by Zurich architects Michael Meier and Marius Hug. Two different building sections rise up on a single-story base: An 18-story building at the east end, which forms the spatial conclusion towards the center square. Opposite is a four-story structure oriented to the existing buildings on Worbstrasse.
The main accesses as well as the planned stores and gastronomic facilities are located along Worbstrasse and at Zentrumsplatz. From the second floor onwards, the high-rise building will be exclusively residential. The access to the parking garage is planned at the rear of the buildings, as well as delivery, a waste disposal area and parking spaces.
Building site D, owned by HRS Real Estate, is located at Worbstrasse 183. The master plan envisages an urban, family-friendly superstructure here, which is to serve as a model for later development of the neighboring construction sites.
The winning project of the study commission procedure for this building site comes from the Bernese architectural firm Suter+Partner. The listed factory owner's villa on the site is to become part of an ensemble - with a six-story longitudinal wooden building behind and a four-story point building next to the villa. A total of around 45 apartments will be built.
In the second half of 2020, the voters will vote on the "Gümligen center development" zone for mandatory planning. If they approve, the realization of the projects will start in 2022. The construction period is estimated at around two years.
The Lischenmoos area to the west of the Gümligen train station is the largest development area in Muri bei Bern. It is currently used for commercial purposes and is to be transformed into a zone with mixed residential and work use. (ah)
