A total of around 1,100 apartments for around 3,000 residents are to be built on the Viererfeld/Mittelfeld site. Around 300 apartments will be built as part of the first construction phase. While at least 50% of the apartments in this first stage are reserved for non-profit housing construction, the remaining area is open to market-oriented developers.
To this end, Immobilien Stadt Bern has sought investors with their registered office and main activity in the city of Bern who are willing to commit as final investors for the first construction phase. A development partnership was agreed with the Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) pension fund, the City of Bern pension fund and Schweizerische Mobiliar Asset Management in December 2019. (ah)
