Bern: Globus closes locations in Westside and in the Old Town
Globus plans to close the department store in the Westside shopping center in early 2021 and the women's fashion store on Spitalgasse in Bern at the end of June 2020.
Due to increasing demand in the online store and declining sales in the stores, four stores in the Bern area would not make sense, Globus says. Therefore, Globus is forced to close the department store in the Westside shopping center from 2021 and the women's fashion store in Spitalgasse 18/20 at the end of June this year.
According to the announcement, the new tenant at Spitalgasse 18 will be Orell Füssli. The new store is scheduled to open in August.
Globus still operates a department store in Bern at Spitalgasse 17/21. The location was renovated a good two years ago and will be retained. The men's fashion store at Spitalgasse 3 is also to remain. It will be renovated this fall, Globus announced. (ah)
