Baar: Competition for spinning mill decided
The Zurich architectural firm lilin has won the study contract for the industrial site of the old spinning mill on the Lorze in Baar.
The landowner of the site in Baar (ZG), which includes the spinning mill, several large halls on Langgasse and the parking lot to the "Höllhäuser", is Patrimonium. The company announced in spring 2019 that it intends to develop the area.
The winning project envisages the construction of new four- to six-story buildings next to the existing buildings, including the 200-meter-long former spinning mill building. One third each of the area will be used for work, residential, education, leisure and culture. For example, a hotel and a large specialty store are planned. The old part of the building will continue to house offices.
According to Patrimonium, about 300 apartments in the mid-price segment are planned, as well as 60 low-cost and 60 retirement apartments.
The winning project now serves as the basis for further planning. First, a guideline project will be drawn up, followed by a development plan and a revision of the zoning plan. It is expected that the population will be able to vote on the project in 2022. (ah)
