Migros presents plans for former paper mill in Utzenstorf
Migros Aare has presented initial ideas for the future use of the industrial site in Utzenstorf (BE). The construction of an operations center and a sorting center for the postal service are being examined.

Migros Aare plans to submit a building application for the first of a total of four construction sites on the site of the former Utzenstorf paper mill at the beginning of February. According to the retailer, an operations center for the online retailer Digitec Galaxus, which is part of Migros, and a parcel sorting center for major customers are planned.
If implemented, Swiss Post would take over part of the land under building rights, Migros Aare said. If everything goes according to plan, the operations center could begin operations in 2024.
The future use of the three remaining construction sites is still open. It depends on whether the Operations Center can be realized and whether a direct access road can be built, according to Migros Aare. The access road is to be borne by the communities concerned, the region and the canton.
Migros Aare purchased the Utzenstorf paper mill land in February 2018 The industrial site covers a total of 320,000 sqm. (ah)
