Lucerne: LUKB can expand its headquarters
Luzerner Kantonalbank (LUKB) has been given the green light to increase the size of its headquarters at Pilatusplatz in Lucerne.
As part of the partial revision of the building and zoning regulations (BZO) for the Lucerne district, LUKB can expand its headquarters at Pilatusplatz. The cantonal bank urgently needs more space at the site, but the current BZO does not permit an expansion of the main building. According to local media reports, the bank has even threatened to move out of the city center if an expansion is not possible.
With the amended BZO, LUKB can now raise the building to 26 meters, which corresponds to the height of the surrounding buildings. An objection to the amendment is still pending: A neighbor fears additional shadowing due to the higher facade. The city council is asking parliament to reject this objection. (ah)
