Steinhausen: Gewoba builds "House for shared living
The Gewoba cooperative for non-profit housing is building a residential building with small apartments and large communal areas in Steinhausen (ZG).

The wood hybrid house is being built at Goldermattenstrasse 25 in Steinhausen, and consists of four stories and a roof structure. While the residential units are relatively small, there will be a disproportionate number of areas for communal use in the new building. According to Gewoba, half of the first floor will have communal areas, such as a large living-dining room with kitchen and a hobby room. Another community room is planned for the top floor, which will also have a large roof terrace.
The three floors in between will house nine small apartments: one studio, one two-room and one three-room apartment each. According to Gewoba, tenants will be people from different generations who have an interest in communal living and want to be involved in the community. Initial leasing will start this fall, with first occupancy scheduled for March 2021.
The building will have no basement and will be built to the Minergie A standard. There will be no parking spaces for the residents. (ah)
