Biel: The Centre Esplanade is being built
The large-scale Centre Esplanade development near Zentralplatz in Biel (BE) is taking shape. Structural engineering work has begun on the project, which will include residential, office, retail and hotel uses.
The Centre Esplanade is being realized by Alpine Finanz Immobilien AG. A complex with a total area of 38,000 sqm is being built in the center of Biel, adjacent to the Esplanade town square. Plans call for 124 apartments of various sizes - from studios to 5-room apartments - and there will also be office, commercial and retail space. A Courtyard business hotel of the Marriott Group with 100 rooms and a dedicated parking lot with around 230 parking spaces are also planned.
Construction began last winter, and building work has been underway since summer 2020. In parallel, the existing buildings are being renovated and converted. The Centre Esplanade is scheduled for completion in 2024. (ah)
