Andermatt Swiss Alps satisfied with first half year
The Andermatt Swiss Alps Group reports rising guest numbers at its two hotels for the first half of 2020. The sale of vacation properties has leveled off at a high level.
Despite the closure of the mountain railroads and hotels after the lockdown in March, the first half of 2020 has been positive, says Andermatt Swiss Alps AG. From mid-May, operations were gradually resumed and the destination benefited from the fact that the Swiss spend their vacations in their own country. Andermatt had proven to be the best performing destination within the Orascom Group.
In the Hotels business unit, The Chedi Andermatt reported significantly more overnight stays than in the same period last year and the highest occupancy rate ever. The Radisson Blu Reussen hotel, which is geared to groups and events, largely made up for this lack of business with individual guests.
Several buildings with vacation apartments are reportedly currently under construction: Enzian and Arve, as well as the two latest projects, Frame and Alma. The Frame building is aimed at a younger urban audience with 2.5-bedroom apartments and duplex studios, it said. Just three weeks after its launch, more than 60% of the apartments have been sold, he said. Alma House, which will be marketed starting August 24, is located directly on the Reuss River. It has ten large apartments, each comprising half a floor, and a penthouse apartment. Also under construction are two other buildings, the Turmfalke Suites. (ah)
