According to SBB, MSD will move into the building on construction sites B and C, combining three locations under one roof. The new building is located in the immediate vicinity of Lucerne train station, Lake Lucerne and the old town. According to SBB, this location in the city center and directly next to the train station was important for MSD when deciding on the site. In addition, MSD hopes that the consolidation of the locations in the Rösslimatt will lead to better cooperation among the employees. In addition to office space, the building will also house retail and catering facilities.

Preparatory work is currently underway on the site; construction work is scheduled to start in 2021 and the three construction areas A, B and C will be developed on the basis of the design plan. The construction areas D-F in the area of the current stabling facilities will only be able to be developed after the realization of the through station, presumably from the year 2040.

SBB plans to start construction of the building on site A at the end of 2021, into which the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will move. Occupation is scheduled for 2025. The costs for the construction site are estimated at CHF 94 million.

According to the information provided, work on the MSD building on construction sites B and C will start in 2021 at the earliest, with commissioning and occupation expected in the second half of 2025. SBB says it will invest 84 million euros in construction sites B and C.

A project by the consortium Demuth Hagenmüller & Lamprecht Architekten with Alessandra Villa Architektur is to be realized there. According to the jury, it optimally implements the requirements of a sustainable and contemporary service building through an "open, clear and finely differentiated attitude to the city". This is shown on the one hand through the façade design and on the other hand through the arrangement of the various uses. (ah)
