Baar: Yes to the major Unterfeld South project

Just under 65% of the voters of Baar (ZG) voted in favour of the Unterfeld Süd area plan. A new neighbourhood is planned for the site on the border between Baar and Zug.

With the yes vote at the ballot box, a second attempt at neighbourhood development can now be launched. In February 2017, the municipality of Baar and the city of Zug had already voted once on a partial revision of the zoning plan of the building code and on a cross-municipality development plan for the Unterfeld. While the people of Stadtzug said yes twice, the people of Baar narrowly rejected the development plan. The landowners in Stadtzug subsequently withdrew, and the municipality of Baar started a new planning process together with the landowners.

The site is a cantonal densification area and one of the last undeveloped building zones in the region. It is located directly on the municipal border between Baar and Zug at the Baar-Lindenpark railway station and consists of four building sites. Two of the building sites (1B and 3) belong to the portfolio of Ina Invest.

The site is planned primarily for apartments - around a quarter of the 38,000 sqm of living space is reserved for affordable housing, and rental apartments and condominiums are also to be built. Other uses such as offices and services are planned, as well as public-oriented uses in parts of the ground floors. Three high-rise buildings with heights of 40, 50 and 60 metres are planned as accents. (ah)
