In the wake of the corona pandemic, the demand for bicycles, especially with electric drive, has risen sharply, so they want to open a location of the bike retailer Bike World in Ebikon, says Migros Lucerne. According to Migros, BIke World has the largest range of brand-name bicycles in Switzerland, as well as accessories and clothing. The store format is already operating in the Migros cooperatives Aare, Basel, Eastern Switzerland and Zurich, it said.

Migros sees a well-suited location for the Bike World branch in the former MParc. The rezoning of the site was rejected by the Ebikon population in 2019, so the site is still in a commercial zone. The branch is scheduled to open for the start of the season in spring 2021.

In addition to the new Bike World store, the Migrol gas station will remain, Migros Lucerne added. In addition, there are plans to create further offers in and around the former MParc; to this end, the company intends to cooperate with external partners. Other own formats are not planned at the location, and the existing stores in the Mall of Switzerland will also be retained, Migros Lucerne emphasizes. (ah)
