HRS and Migros to build on Gschwend site in Steffisburg
The Migros Aare Cooperative, the Migros Pension Fund and HRS Real Estate are building a residential and commercial development on the Gschwend site in Steffisburg (BE).
On the centrally located, 12,000 sqm site of the former furniture factory Gschwend between Unterdorfstrasse and Zulg, eight apartment buildings and a shopping center are being built. On behalf of the Migros Aaare cooperative, HRS is constructing four buildings with 58 rental apartments and a 3,000 sqm shopping center on the ground floor and basement on one part of the site, which will include a Migros branch with 1,800 sqm of sales area, a Migros restaurant, a Denner branch and other stores.
On a second part of the site, HRS is building 51 rental apartments in two buildings for the Migros pension fund. On a third part of the site, HRS is building 39 condominiums, which the company will realize as a developer and sell itself. Two thirds have already been reserved, says HRS.
The well-known firm of Aebi & Vincent Architekten is responsible for the architecture of the development.The construction costs for the project, which will be realized in the Minergie standard, are around CHF 80 million. The shopping center is scheduled to open in spring 2023, and the apartments will be handed over to the owners and tenants in stages from the end of 2022 to mid-2023. (ah)
