Hiag was founded in St. Margrethen in 1876 as a timber construction company; today the site is used by Stadler, among others, for the development of rail vehicles. Stadler has now acquired a 66,000 sqm part of the site for an undisclosed purchase price. The company had previously held the site under building rights.

According to Hiag, the other property in St. Margrethen will remain in the company's real estate portfolio. It will continue to be rented by a large logistics company and will also be used as a parking lot.

From the real estate holding company's point of view, the development of the site was completed with the establishment of Stadler's new competence center for double-decker multiple units. The divestment was therefore part of the ongoing portfolio optimization, Hiag said. The proceeds from the sale strengthen operational clout in addition to the recent share placement, says CEO Marco Feusi. The company is well equipped to press ahead with the realization of its project pipeline and to expand its real estate portfolio with additional acquisitions. (ah)
