Kempinski manages Hotel Palace in Engelberg
In Engelberg, the Hotel Palace will be launched in spring. Kempinski Hotels will take over the management of this traditional hotel. The luxury hotel group will also operate the hotel complex in Melchsee-Frutt.
Two exceptional Swiss hotels in the canton of Obwalden are new additions to the portfolio of the luxury hotel group Kempinski Hotels: Firstly, the first 5-star luxury hotel in Engelberg, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg - Titlis Swiss Alps, which is due to open next spring.
Secondly, the two hotels on the Frutt in Melchsee-Frutt will be managed by Kempinski from the coming winter season. "We are delighted to be able to include these two outstanding hotels in the portfolio of our international hotel chain in the future," said Martin R. Smura, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Kempinski Hotels on the occasion of the signing of the management contract with the owners.
The Kempinski Hotel Palace Engelberg, which Smura says has a special history that makes it a perfect fit with other Kempinski flagships such as the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, has 129 rooms and suites, restaurants and an 880-square-metre spa and wellness area with an infinity pool on the top floor.
Historical features of the building, which was erected in 1904, were worked out in collaboration with the monument conservation authorities; among other things, the historic Kursaal was integrated both functionally and architecturally. The destination is easily accessible by car, train or via Zurich Airport in both summer and winter.
The second new addition to the Kempinski Hotels is also impressive: Located in the middle of central Switzerland and very close to Lucerne in the small holiday area of Melchsee-Frutt at an altitude of 2,000 metres directly on Lake Melchsee, the hotel buildings were opened back in 2011 and 2016 respectively. The upper part has 63 rooms, one junior suite and three suites, a restaurant and a 900 sqm spa landscape. In the slightly lower hotel part there are 33 rooms, four junior suites and ten suites, a bowling alley, a cinema and a kids club as well as seminar infrastructure. Both establishments are connected by an underground passageway. (bw)
