Biel/Nidau: City councillors reject Mobimo's Agglolac project
The city councils of Biel and Nidau have rejected the large-scale Agglolac project, a site development by Mobimo, in the form presented.
For many years, the cities of Biel and Nidau have been planning the development of the former Expo site. On the site between the bay of Lake Biel and Nidau Castle, Mobimo wants to create a quarter with around 120,000 square meters of gross floor area under the name Agglolac. A public park is planned on the lakeshore in the part of the site that is currently largely fallow. Behind it, various buildings for a total of 1,500 residents are planned, including a high-rise building 48 meters high. The investment volume is CHF 500 million.
These plans did not find a majority at the city council meetings in Biel and Nidau on March 17 and 18, 2021. Mobimo says it notes this with regret. The real estate company says it now wants to determine the current situation with the cities and provide information on the next steps in due course. Mobimo emphasizes that the Agglolac planning project will have no impact on the development of operating results in the current year.
