The groundbreaking ceremony for the new company headquarters of HB-Therm AG has taken place in St.Gallen-Winkeln. The new production site is to replace the four previous locations at the railway station in St.Fiden.
HB-Therm, a manufacturer of temperature control units for the plastics processing industry, currently employs around 100 people in St.Gallen. The new building will provide jobs for over 200 people, according to a company press release. The new company headquarters will be built according to plans by Winterthur-based Strut Architekten AG on Piccardstrasse in the western district of Winkeln. HB-Therm had acquired the approximately 12,000 sqm building plot from Amag in 2018. The investment volume for the new company headquarters with around 14,700 sqm of usable space amounts to CHF 60 million.
The complex comprises 2,200 sqm of production space, 2,000 sqm of warehouse space and 4,000 sqm of assembly space, as well as 1,500 sqm for offices and meeting rooms and 3,500 sqm of parking space. The new building will be constructed in accordance with the Minergie standard and is to receive a CO2 certificate; among other things, a solar plant with 300 kilowatt peak output and charging stations for electric vehicles are planned.
