Basel: Landhof investors pull out
The investors of the planned Landhof neighborhood parking in Basel's Wettstein district no longer want to realize the project.
Basel's construction and transport director Esther Keller (GLP) said in the "Talk" of Telebaselthat the investors for the underground parking would withdraw. One of the reasons is that the situation at the ailing Messe Schweiz has changed and that 1,000 parking spaces are now available there. In addition, proceedings against the general building application are pending before the Federal Court.
In 2017, the Basel government had awarded Zum Greifen AG the contract for a single-story parking lot with around 200 parking spaces to relieve the parking shortage in the neighborhood. However, the project met with great resistance from the outset.
As construction director Keller said in the Telebasel-The decision of the investors will be analyzed first. The withdrawal also clears the way for a redevelopment of the site, which had previously been blocked by opposition to the parking project. The Landhof is the historic home of FC Basel, whose building rights there ended in 2001. The most recent plan was to build apartments on the football pitch, but this failed in the 2010 referendum.
