Aargau: Canton wants to buy land in the Sisslerfeld area
The canton of Aargau plans to acquire land in the Sisslerfeld area in the Fricktal. The Sisslerfeld is the largest contiguous and zoned industrial area in northwestern Switzerland.
According to the cantonal structure plan, the Sisslerfeld between Stein and Sisseln is an economic development focus (ESP) of cantonal importance. Approximately 80 hectares have not yet been built over, and some of the already developed areas have large internal reserves.
According to its own information, the canton of Aargau has been offered several parcels for sale. The government council is now planning to promote the development of the site through land acquisition in order to reach market and construction readiness as quickly as possible. After that, the parcels are to be offered to companies for settlement.
According to the canton, the land covers an area of 67,500 square meters and is expected to cost CHF 21.5 million. Additional costs totaling CHF 7 million are to be expected for site development and access in a later phase, the government council added. The intention is to buy the land at a fair market price in order to develop it and then return it to the open market.
Due to the pilot nature of this project, the Government Council opened the consultation on the bill on May 18, 2021. It will continue until August 13. In this way, the aim is to facilitate a broad political discussion on the question of whether the canton should actively promote the development of sites by means of strategic land acquisition. (ah)
