Samih Sawiris plans marina projects on the Lake of Uri

The idea for marinas on the Lake of Uri has been presented at the municipal assemblies of Flüelen and Seedorf. According to the municipality of Flüelen, one of the two marinas at Isleten could be located on land belonging to the municipalities of Seedorf/Bauen/Isenthal, the current site of the Cheddite company. The second marina is conceivable in the Allmend area on land belonging to the municipality of Flüelen up to Wildried Altdorf. However, concrete projects or even construction plans are not yet available, the municipality stresses. These are merely ideas that are being examined for their legal, technical, ecological and political feasibility.

On behalf of Samih Sawiris, former councillor Isidor Baumann is holding exploratory talks with representatives of the local communities, the cantonal authorities, the Uri Corporation and environmental protection organisations. These talks should be concluded by the second half of the year, after which the project - if feasible - will be fleshed out further, according to a statement in Flüelen. (ah)
