Lucerne: Ground-breaking ceremony for extension of the Schüür

The Schüür concert hall was opened in 1992 and is considered an important venue in the rock and pop genres in the region. Since only minor alterations and repairs have been carried out since the opening, renovation work now needs to be carried out. At the same time, the building is being extended: a new two-storey building is being added to the north and east facades of the concert hall. The City Council has approved a special loan of CHF 4.12 million for the renovation and expansion.

Construction work began on August 2 and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2022. According to the city of Lucerne, the concert hall will remain open throughout the renovation phase, with some events taking place in the garden. (ah)
