Aarau: Ground-breaking ceremony for new cantonal hospital
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new "Dreiklang" building of the cantonal hospital was held in Aarau on 12 August. The new main building should be ready for occupancy in 2025.

The new hospital building "Dreiklang" combines three areas: the outpatient department, the functional areas and the wards. As it stands, it is the largest hospital building in Switzerland and should be ready for occupation in 2025. According to the Kantonsspital Aarau (KSA), the concept of the new building is characterised by "integrating functionality, the clear separation of outpatient and inpatient medicine and flexibility". The guiding principle is to ensure the shortest possible distances for staff and patients.
The new hospital building is being constructed according to Minergie P-Eco. The energy management system operates according to the principle of maximum recycling; the residual energy is obtained via the district heating/district cooling network of the local energy supplier Eniwa AG.
Implenia is the general contractor for the construction project. In May of this year, the construction company took over the former ARGE partner in the project, BAM Swiss AG, and has thus become the sole total contractor. (ah)
