Kriens: Next step for major Eichhof West project
The planned residential and commercial development on the Eichhof West site in Kriens (LU) is taking a step forward. The BVK pension fund and WAS Wirtschaft Arbeit Soziales Luzern have submitted the building applications.
The Zurich pension fund BVK and the association of Lucerne social insurers WAS Wirtschaft Arbeit Soziales Luzern want to build a development with five office, residential and commercial buildings on the former Konsumhof site near the Sonnenberg tunnel portal in Kriens.
WAS is constructing two office buildings on the site with space for around 700 workplaces; the companies that were previously housed in decentralised locations are to be brought together under one roof here. BVK is constructing the other three buildings with a total of 239 rental apartments and commercial space. It is also constructing a joint underground car park for the entire site and the open spaces. The landowners expect the buildings to be occupied in 2024/25.
After a long planning phase, the project is now entering the home straight with the submission of the building application: the residents' council approved the development plan in 2014, and the government council put it into effect in 2016. However, it only became legally binding after the completion of an appeal procedure before the Federal Supreme Court. (ah)
