Halter plans to start construction on the Vivo project in Aesch this autumn. The building permit is legally binding, and the UBS Sima fund has been won as an investor.

The new Vivo quarter is intended to become a gateway on the northern edge of Aesch; the project is considered an important building block in the community's dense settlement development. By 2024, a development with residential, commercial and business uses is to be built on the 15,188 sqm site. Around 85% of the main usable area will be allocated to residential use.

The project comprises a total of four building units, developed by the Basel architectural firms Salathé, Otto Partner and Burckhardt+Partner: The 40-metre-high Vivo Tower near the motorway turn-off is intended to mark the entrance to the community of Aesch. Commercial uses such as a coworking space and a café are planned here, as well as long-stay apartments and 80 rental apartments. Vivo Hof, another mixed-use building, is being built in the south-western part of the site: the ground floor will be used for neighbourhood services and small businesses, while the three upper floors will house a total of 36 rental apartments.

The other two buildings, Vivo Kamm and Vivo Qube, are purely residential. Vivo Kamm will comprise 57 rental apartments, while Vivo Qube will have a further 55 rental apartments on six floors. In total, the four buildings will offer 228 apartments and around 4,700 sqm of commercial and service space.

Halter AG has been able to win Balintra, a company of the UBS Sima real estate fund, as an investor for the new quarter. Balintra intends to take the project with an investment volume of around CHF 150 million into the construction phase this year, together with Halter as developer and overall provider. The plan is to start construction work this autumn. Marketing of the commercial space is scheduled to begin in spring 2022, and marketing of the apartments is expected to start in spring 2023. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024. (ah)
