Zurich: Groundbreaking ceremony for new building on the Glaubten site
The Reformed Church of Zurich is realizing a new building project on the Glaubten site in Zurich-Affoltern with a nursing home and transitional apartments as well as commercial space.

After a four-year preparation period, construction work began at the beginning of October 2021, and the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new building on the Glaubten site will take place on 31 October 2021, the Reformed Church of Zurich announces. The project is intended to provide socially disadvantaged people with medical care and a temporary home. A specialist hospital with acute and long-term wards is planned, as well as transitional housing for people without shelter or a social network. In addition, the Zurich parish intends to rent out six commercial spaces along Wehntalerstrasse in the new building.
The main tenant of the new building is the Sozialwerk Pfarrer Sieber, which will have a central location here and combine several facilities under one roof: the specialist hospital Sune-Egge, currently located on Konradstrasse, the Sunegarte nursing home, currently located in Egg (ZH), the Brothuuse housing estate, currently in Zurich-Affoltern, and the overall administration of the Sozialwerk.
After excavation, shell construction will start in February 2022 and is expected to last until April 2023. This will be followed by the final work on the façade, interior finishing and landscaping by March 2024. By spring 2024, the specialist hospital should be accepting its first patients, and the transitional housing should be ready for occupancy. At this time, the parish also wants to rent out the commercial space. (a.o.)
