Lausanne: Implenia wins contract for Central Malley
SBB Immobilien has commissioned Implenia to construct five buildings for the new Central Malley district in the west of Lausanne.
The Central Malley project is the first stage in the redevelopment of the Malley brownfield site in the municipalities of Prilly and Renens, west of Lausanne. The aim is to create a sustainable urban quarter with apartments, offices and commercial units.
Implenia will construct five buildings, including two high-rises with 19 and 24 storeys respectively. The buildings have a total area of 42,200 sqm, of which 23,700 sqm is for office use and 3,800 sqm for commercial units. In addition, around 200 apartments with a total area of 14,700 sqm will be built. The buildings are to be certified with the Minergie P-Eco environmental label.
Two separate architectural competitions were held for the project in 2018, which were won by Aeby Perneger & Associés and Pont 12 Architectes. Implenia is responsible for the large-scale project as the general contractor; according to the company, the contract is worth around CHF 200 million.
Central Malley was designed with environmental challenges in mind and is part of Lausanne's spatial development plan, which envisages a series of ambitious architectural designs in the conurbation. (ah)
