The construction visas have been issued and the building application for five new apartment buildings will be submitted shortly: The St.Galler Pensionskasse (SGPK) wants to expand its residential offering in the Wolfganghof and appeal in particular to older people and people with disabilities with small, barrier-free apartments. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2022.

Currently, the rental offer at Wolfganghof consists of a good 70% of large apartments with 4.5 to 6 rooms. With the next construction phase in the southern part of the site, mainly smaller units are to be created. According to the SGPK, a total of 135 apartments with 2.5 to 4.5 rooms are planned in the five buildings, which will be accessible without thresholds and with an elevator and will have large balconies. The new part of the quarter will remain car-free.

According to SGPK, one of the five buildings, the octagonal House A near the bus turnaround, will have rooms on the first floor that can be used by the public, for example for a crèche, gastronomy or a health practice. In addition, coworking spaces and a community room will be set up and operated by SGPK. Obstacle-free 2.5-room apartments are planned for the upper floors. The other four buildings are purely residential.

According to the pension fund, the new buildings will be constructed and certified according to the SNBS standard for sustainable construction. A double-shell masonry structure will ensure durability and maximum building insulation. Photovoltaic systems on the roofs will generate solar power, which tenants will be able to purchase at preferential rates. Heating will be provided by district heating. (ah)
