The Vivo Quarter is intended to provide new apartments as well as space for business and commercial uses by 2024. The project on a 15,000-square-meter site on the northern edge of Aesch is considered an important building block in the community's dense residential development.

The new quarter will be made up of four building units, developed by the Basel-based architecture firms Salathé, Otto Partner and Burckhardt+Partner: The 40-meter-high Vivo Tower near the highway turnoff will mark the entrance to the community of Aesch. Here, commercial uses such as a coworking space and a café are planned for the lower floors, and the middle floors will house 36 long-stay apartments. The top floors will house 80 rental apartments.

Vivo Hof, another mixed-use building, is being built in the southwestern part of the site: the first floor will be used for neighborhood services and small businesses, while the three upper floors will house a total of 36 rental apartments.

The other two buildings, Vivo Kamm and Vivo Qube, are purely residential. Vivo Kamm will comprise 57 rental apartments and a community room, while Vivo Qube will have a further 55 rental apartments on six floors; among other things, maisonettes with large private outdoor spaces are planned here. In total, the four buildings will offer 228 apartments and around 4,700 square meters of commercial and service space. In addition, there will be 328 parking spaces and 664 bicycle parking spaces.

The building permit was issued in July 2021, and in the same month the developer Halter AG was able to win Balintra AG, a company of the UBS Sima real estate fund, as an investor for the project. The project has an investment volume of around CHF 150 million. Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. (ah)
