After a lengthy legal dispute, the Federal Court has dismissed the appeal against the building permit for the Vuelo project. This makes the permit legally binding. By 2026, SBB plans to construct a new building with commercial use on a 6,500 square meter site directly at Tiefenbrunnen station.

According to SBB, construction of the elongated building is scheduled to start in spring 2024, and at the same time the station square will be redesigned and traffic calmed. Retail and gastronomy uses are planned for the first floor of Vuelo, while the two floors above are intended for services. A 500-square-meter restaurant area with a view of the lake will be built on the attic floor. The building is scheduled to open in mid-2026, SBB said. (ah)
