Eglantine quarter in Morges is completed
The Eglantine eco-neighborhood in Morges has now been officially inaugurated - three years after construction began. Losinger Marazzi designed and realized the development.
The sustainable quarter Eglantine comprises 40,000 sqm of total floor space distributed over 13 buildings. The result is 450 residential units, 110 of which are condominiums, and 1,000 bicycle parking spaces.
The first floors of the buildings are home to stores and service providers such as a tea room, an organic food store, a fitness studio and a kinesiology practice. Residents also have access to services such as car and bike sharing, digitally networked parcel boxes and a robot that carries groceries.
The energy supply of the quarter is completely without fossil fuels, for example through solar panels on the roofs, a geothermal probe field and a heat recovery system. The Eglantine Quarter has been awarded the Minergie-Eco label and certification as a 2,000-watt site.
Investors in the major project are Vaudoise Assurances, Mobiliar, Retraites Populaires, J. Safra Sarrasin and Coopérative de l'Eglantine. (ah)
