Canton Thurgau: Abendrot Foundation builds rental apartments in Egnach
In the community on Lake Constance, the foundation is developing an area together with Mettler2Invest on which a total of eight buildings with 161 apartments are being built.

The Abendrot Foundation becomes a partner in the development of the Mosterei site in Egnach (Canton Thurgau). On the site, it plans to build three new residential buildings and convert an office building to residential/commercial use. The project is part of a larger project involving the construction of 161 apartments and commercial space in a total of eight buildings. Abendrot says it is developing "very extensively cooperatively" with owner Mettler2Invest, which plans condominiums in two buildings on the site. Furthermore, the project includes a retirement housing project with a dementia unit and nursing rooms.
The building application for the project will be submitted in December. Approval and the start of construction are expected from spring 2023. Occupation of the apartments is expected in May 2025 at the earliest. The plans are by Baumschlager&Eberle Architekten.
According to Abendrot, the entire settlement is to be characterized by community-oriented living. An agreement has been reached with Metterl2Invest to establish a housing association, and other potential partners have already been approached. All residents of the neighborhood are to be members of the settlement association and have a say in the community facilities. (aw)
