Electronic submission of building applications is already possible in the canton of Zurich, but it does not yet function in a purely digital way. To ensure that the approval process via the "eBaugesucheZH" platform can take place entirely without paper and media disruptions in the future, the government council is now proposing an amendment to the Planning and Building Act to the cantonal council.

Up to now, according to current law, two paper copies of the construction dossier and the hand-signed entry receipt must still be submitted. Individual steps in the approval process, e.g. the public announcement, are also not carried out via the platform. This is now to change. A further technical development of "eBaugesucheZH" is also planned by the beginning of 2024.

As soon as the amendment to the law will have come into force, the municipalities will have time during a transitional period of three years to introduce the electronic building permit process. (aw)
