The castle belongs to the estate of the real estate investor and art collector Bruno Stefanini. He had bought it in 1979, but used it only briefly for himself. His estate included three castles in Switzerland, which are managed by Terresta AG. Grandson Castle on Lake Neuchâtel is currently being renovated, and a new utilization concept for Brestenberg Castle in Seengen on Lake Hallwyler will be sought by the end of the year in a participatory process. A fourth property, Luxburg Castle in Egnach on Lake Constance, was recently sold to a local sponsor.

Salenstein Castle is the smallest of these castles and, according to Terresta, is not suitable for public use due to its size and location and is likely to serve as a private residence and/or company headquarters in the future. (aw)
