Basel: Implenia wins 250 million contract for university building
Implenia's construction division will act as general contractor for the University of Basel to build a 37,000 sqm laboratory building.
The building is being constructed for the university's Department of Biomedicine on the Schällemätteli site in Basel. Implenia is executing the construction as a total contractor and will supply the main trades such as civil engineering and master builder from a single source. The contract value of CHF 250 million includes execution planning, realization and commissioning. The project will start this month with an optimization phase and is expected to last until mid-2028. Operations are scheduled to start by 2031.
On a floor area of approx. 37,000 square meters - distributed over three basement floors, one first floor and eight upper floors - rooms for laboratory, office and seminar use are being created. The building is being designed in accordance with the Minergie standard. (aw)
