Birsfelden seeks building leaseholder for Hardstrasse site
The area on Hardstrasse formerly used by the Birsfelden municipal administration is to be developed and redensified. Public participation in the neighborhood planning is currently underway.

After the Birsfelden municipal administration has moved from its previous location at Hardstrasse 21 to the building of the former BLKB branch at Hauptstrasse 77 at the end of 2020, the vacated area will be available for a new use. Back in 2016, the area was classified as a "hotspot" of the "Zentrum" development area. Here, the municipality of Basel-Landschaft is planning a residential development. It wants to retain ownership of the site and grant building rights to institutional investors, as well as non-profit housing developers, cooperatives and building groups.
A project by Christian Salewski & Simon Kretz Architekten, which won a project competition, is to be implemented. Its urban development concept envisages designing the area in a small-town manner: A new alley is to connect Hardstrasse with Lärchengartenstrasse. To the west of this, the two partial commercial buildings at Hardstrasse 25 and Hardstrasse 25A will remain and be converted into 22 apartments and communal spaces. Three new buildings are planned, two of which will be purely residential. In the third new building, the first floor is to be used for commercial purposes. A total of 68 apartments are planned here.
Public participation in the neighborhood planning will continue until November 28. At the same time, potential leaseholders will be evaluated until February 24, 2023. (ah)
