The city is making the property on Bischofszellerstrasse available for a residential development under building rights. However, the building lease agreement still has to be approved by the city parliament.

The investor competition at the corner of Nelkenstrasse was announced a year ago. On board with Mettler2Invest is the planning team K&L Architekten (St. Gallen), landscape architect Hager Partner AG (Zurich) and timber builder Blumer-Lehmann (Gossau). The project envisages two long four-story apartment buildings made of wood. There will be 37 residential units with 1.5 to 6.5 rooms, but mainly 3.5 and 4.5 apartments. In one residential building rental apartments are planned, in the other condominiums.

Building lease rent of CHF 134,000

The building lease agreement with Mettler2Invest is to be concluded for 100 years. Based on a land value of just under CHF 6 million, the city will receive an annual building lease interest of at least just under CHF 134,000. (aw)
