Warteck Invest plans high-rise residential building in Allschwil
The real estate company wants to redensify and renew the superstructure on the Weiherweg site.

The 9,000 sqm Weiherweg site on Binningerstrasse in Allschwil (BL) is currently home to a superstructure dating from 1969, comprising 82 apartments, two commercial pavilions and a kindergarten. According to owner Warteck Invest, the buildings are in need of major renovation.
The real estate company wants to redensify and renovate the development in two stages: In the first stage, a five-story and a six-story addition are to be built. In the second stage, the existing high-rise residential buildings will be demolished and replaced by a new, approximately 70-meter-high high-rise residential building and another six-story residential building. This will double the total number of apartments on the site to over 160. The apartments will be aimed at different target groups, and there will also be space for quiet commercial activities and, once again, a kindergarten. According to Warteck Invest, the aim is to have the site certified with a recognized sustainability label.
In order to implement the project, a neighborhood plan is necessary. This is currently being drawn up and must then be approved by the local council. Work on the first stage should begin in 2025, if possible, according to Warteck Invest. The overall project should be completed by 2029. The investment costs are around CHF 75 million. (ah)
