CKW Fiber Services has built a data center in Rotkreuz that is aimed at large companies, SMEs and ICT providers. The CKW subsidiary built the new building on the site of the CKW Rotkreuz substation. With a floor space of 700 square meters, the data center offers rack spaces, private caged areas and white spaces as well as housing space. According to the company, the investments for the new building amount to around CHF 10 million.

CKW has installed more than a thousand solar modules on the roof and facades of the data center, covering an area of almost 1,200 square meters. The solar power produced in this way is used entirely for the operation of the data center, the company says.

The earthquake-proof building is built according to building class 3, i.e. analogous to vital infrastructure buildings such as hospitals, the statement continues. In addition, energy autonomy of at least six days is guaranteed in the event of a crisis. (ah)
