Community building to revitalize mountain regions year-round
The real estate developer Andermatt Swiss Alps cooperates with Bregaglia Engadin Turismo and the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden. For the development of sustainable communities in mountain regions, a practice-oriented guideline is to be developed by the end of 2025.

Many Swiss mountain destinations face the challenge of revitalizing their communities year-round. Community building is one approach to counteracting this problem, writes Andermatt Swiss Alps in a statement. Networks of locals, "second locals", guests and employees could increase the attractiveness of the destination and the solidarity of the population. Currently, however, community building has not been researched very much.
With this practical project co-financed by Innotour, the pilot regions Andermatt and Bergell are investigating how communities in mountain regions can be established and developed in a targeted manner. Andermatt Swiss Alps and Bregaglia Engadin Turismo represent the pilot regions. The two tourism destinations are to develop a strategy over the next three years under the supervision of the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden. (aw)
