Basel: More gastronomy at SBB station
SBB will locate three restaurant concepts and a fitness concept in the west wing of Basel SBB station, including a fine-dining restaurant.

In 2021, the west wing of Basel SBB station reopened after extensive renovation, but not with the planned full range of services due to the pandemic. Now, four concepts have been found that are intended to "further develop the station's offerings and strengthen its appeal," according to SBB: a fine-dining restaurant, the first Montreux Jazz Café in German-speaking Switzerland, the Central Grill restaurant and the Open Ride fitness concept.
According to the SBB announcement, the fine-dining restaurant will open at the end of 2023 and move into the rear part of the former station buffet. It will occupy 200 square meters of space and have seating for 60. A conservatory will provide a direct view of the railroad activity, SBB said. In the front 300 square meters of the former station buffet, the Montreux Jazz Café will open in the fall. Both concepts are part of the Caviar House & Prunier Group.
The Central Grill will open in the Quergang as early as this summer. The offer will be operated by investors from the environment of the Rhyschänzli Group with a new company, according to the SBB.
In addition, the fitness concept Open Ride by TV presenter and entrepreneur Eva Nidecker will be launched in the fall. It will be located in the West Wing Hall near the exit to the French Railway Station. (ah)
