Utzenstorf: Building permit for two logistics hubs
The planned logistics centers of Swiss Post and Digitec Galaxus in Utzenstorf have received the building permit. This was announced by the Emmental Regional Governor's Office.
The mail order company Digitec Galaxus and Swiss Post want to realize their projects on the site of a former paper mill in Utzenstorf (BE). The "Emmepark" has a buildable area of 125,000 sqm. According to earlier documents, the plans of the Post Office and the Migros subsidiary cover 50,000 sqm. The building applications were published in September 2021.
The cantonal committees have now judged the projects to be unobjectionable. They are nevertheless controversial: according to concurring media reports, 36 objections to the projects had been received. One of the communities affected by the traffic is apparently considering going to the Federal Court to challenge the canton's decision.
Emmepark has belonged to Migros Aare since 2018. The former paper mill is considered one of the largest industrial sites in the canton of Bern. (aw)
