Solothurn: Previs Vorsorge plans residential development near Westbahnhof station
The Segetzpark project aims to build more than 100 apartments near Solothurn's old town. However, the project is controversial.

To the north of Solothurn's Westbahnhof railway station and within walking distance of the old town, Previs Vorsorge is planning to build two apartment buildings. The two new seven-storey buildings will comprise 77 rental apartments (15 to 5.5 rooms) and 45 business apartments as well as 840 square meters of commercial space on the first floors. A shared parking garage will connect the two new buildings. Previs Vorsorge expects construction to start in spring 2024 and the building to be ready for occupation in summer 2026.
According to local media reports, the planning application for the CHF 30 million project is currently pending. Pro Natura Solothurn has lodged an objection because large parts of the Westbahnhof nature garden, which is listed as particularly valuable in the city of Solothurn's nature inventory, will have to make way for the development. In particular, Pro Natura is demanding that two large trees - a copper beech and a black pine - be preserved and that the planning be adapted accordingly. (ah)
